Biography

Julia Kahl studied Communication Design at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and has been living and working in Karlsruhe since 2007.

As co-founder of Slanted Publishers, an independent design, publishing, and media house established in 2014 with Lars Harmsen, she is deeply involved in every aspect of the creative process. Slanted Publishers produces, creates, and edits the design magazine Slanted Magazine, the news platform slanted.de, and a wide range of publications in typography, graphic design, and visual culture. These works are distributed worldwide, earning significant international recognition.

Working as a designer, editor, and publisher, Julia Kahl, alongside her team, shapes the entire production process—from concept to final product—with a deep passion for typography, editorial design, and printed materials. She values global cultural exchange and regularly shares her expertise as a lecturer in Typography and Editorial Design, speaks at international conferences, and serves as a juror for global design competitions.
