Biography
Ajda Schmidt (1987) graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia, designing the identity of the Slovenian pavilion at the 15th Venice Biennale of Architecture. As a freelance designer and photographer, she works mainly in the fields of culture and science.
All her projects are permeated by an affinity for the technical and narrative aspects of materials, printing and bookbinding techniques, which is most clearly expressed in the SCH Stationery, a high-end stationery brand she developed in a long-lasting collaboration with the Povše Printing House.
She is also a a journalist and an editor; her texts have been published in several Slovenian publications and newspapers and she co-authored the book Designing Value (2021; with Robert Ilovar). She is a Board member of the Brumen Foundation, a leading Slovenian graphic design organization, and a lecturer at the Slovenian Academy of Fine Arts and Design. She has received numerous national and international awards for her work.
